Big Sur River Run XXVII Saturday, October 27, 2007:
For years, Nepenthe has been a major sponsor of the Big Sur River Run. Raising money for the Big Sur Fire Brigade and the Big Sur Health Center, this gorgeous 10K Run (and 5K Walk) takes place in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, just 3 miles north of Nepenthe. The course wends along the Big Sur river under a canopy of redwood trees, accompanied by low-flying red-tailed hawks, and cheering stellar jays. Traditionally, entertainment - both at the finish line and along the course - includes bagpipes and drums, a string trio, and more. For more information, call The Treadmill, (831) 624-4112.

Big Sur International Marathon: April 27, 2008
World famous, internationally known marathon starts at 7 am the last Sunday of April each year. Runners begin 2.5 miles south of Nepenthe and run to Carmel's Rio Road.
Hidden Gardens, a Big Sur Garden Tour, June 21, 2008
This incredible garden tour brings you behind the scenes at several private gardens around Big Sur each year. All proceeds from the event benefit the Big Sur Arts Initiative and the Children's Garden at Captain Cooper School.
