Group Reservations 
at Nepenthe Restaurant

Nepenthe is the perfect location for a sit-down lunch or dinner for your rehearsal dinner, birthday party or corporate event. Groups of up to 40 people at lunch and 30 at dinner will enjoy a wonderful experience during hours of restaurant service. 

If you prefer a private, wedding or catered event, we offer unique, personalized events on our outdoor terrace, the Café Kevah.

The following information will help you to plan a group reservation at Nepenthe. We are always happy to discuss groups, special events and needs you may have. These guidelines will insure your visit to Nepenthe is a success.

Remember, once your group reservation is confirmed, we will prepare any special arrangements and set your tables. To facilitate serving your group, we require a confirmation by telephone within 24 hours of your arrival with a final guest count. If you are running late, please call ahead. Otherwise, we are only able to hold reservation tables for no longer than ˝ hour after the reservation time.

If you have any special requests for desserts or wines, please discuss it with me when you make your reservation. We will happy to arrange things ahead of time with our pastry chef and wine buyer. Reservation groups, however, are not allowed to supply their own desserts or beverages when dining at Nepenthe.

Group Size

In general, group size is limited to 40 people during the day and 30 during the dinner hours. Please call 24 hours before your reservation to confirm the exact number of guests.

Seating Times

Lunch groups are usually seated between 11:30 and noon. Dinner Groups must be seated at least ˝ hour before sunset. If your group is running late, please call ahead. Tables are held for ˝ hour after reservation time unless you call.

Special Menus -

Groups can often order from our regular lunch or dinner menus. It is recommended that you pre-order wine selections from our extensive winelist and dessert to insure that they are available for your party. 

Working closely with the special events coordinator to create a unique menu for your event is a challenge we gladly accept at Nepenthe, however, please submit menu selections no later than two weeks prior to the event. 

All food and beverages are supplied by Nepenthe, a 20% pre-tax service charge will be assessed on the final bill.

Seating arrangements

We will try to accommodate special seating request, i.e. outside, front or back patio, along the windows, etc., however, due to weather and business level we cannot guarantee specific seating.

Confirming Reservations

When date, time, number in party, and menu selection have been determined, we will confirm your reservation. After you receive the reservation confirmation, we ask you to review it, initial your approval and return it to Nepenthe.

Special Needs

We invite you to avail yourself of our special events coordinator's services. Together you can review menu selection, table arrangement, floral and décor arrangements, maps, lodging, and other entertainment options in the Big Sur area.

Guide and Driver Comps

We offer a complimentary meal to your driver and tour guide, a service chare of 20% for their meals will be added to the master bill for your group.

Payment Information -

Final payment: All expenses including the 20% service charge must be paid before your group leaves Nepenthe on the day of your event.
Payments can be made by Visa, Master Card, American Express or Cash.
